Tobacco Prevention and Cessation

Tobacco Use in Kentucky
Tobacco use is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States and around the world. Every year more than 8,000 Kentuckians die of illnesses caused by smoking. In Jessamine County, 19% of adults are current cigarette smokers, which is higher than the national average (15%).
Jessamine County Health Department partners with the Kentucky Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program in their mission to reduce the number of preventable and premature deaths caused by tobacco. We do this by encouraging youth and others not to start using tobacco products and providing Jessamine County residents free resources to help them quit smoking, vaping, and using other tobacco products.
