Flu
Influenza (the flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness. Serious outcomes of flu infection can result in hospitalization or death. Some people, such as older people, young children, and people with certain health conditions, are at high risk for serious flu complications. The best way to prevent the flu is by getting vaccinated each year. The Health Department recommends anyone over 6 months get their flu shot.
Visit your health care provider, the Health Department or one of the many pharmacies or clinics in Jessamine County offering the flu shot to help protect yourself and the people around you from the spread of flu. Medicaid, Medicare and most private insurances will cover the costs. Self-pay at JCHD is $37.00 for regular dose and $68.00 for high-dose.
